Valemount is a small village nestled
in three mountain ranges; the Rocky Mountains, the Monashee Mountains,
and the Caribou Mountains. It has a population of 1195 people but
many travelers come to Valemount, both in Winter and in Summer. |
Valemount is only 35 km from Mount Robson
Provincial Park and the famous Berg Lake Trail.
In summer, many tour companies operate in Valemount. Visitors can do anything
from whitewater or gentle raft trips, to guided tours around the wildlife
sanctuary at the edge of the town. There are many hiking trails in and around
the Valemount area, ranging from short, gentle walks to lengthier, steeper
trails for more experienced hikers. There is a lake 5 minutes from town
where many locals go to swim. Just a 40 minute drive away, Moose lake and
marsh provide a very nice canoeing experience. Summer temperatures range
from +10ºC to +30ºC on average.
| In Winter, snowmobilers come to Valemount
for our mountains and powder snow. There are also several tour companies
that have skiing packages available, including heli-skiing. Groomed
cross-country ski trails exist about 5 minutes away from town, where
many locals enjoy cross country skiing, and tobogganing. |

The marsh on the edge of town is great
for skating in winter, and often residents can be found playing hockey,
or just skating around the many different channels of the marsh. Minor hockey
receives a lot of support in Valemount - the Arena and adjacent curling
club are busy most evenings and weekends. Winter temperature is on average
between -30ºC and +5ºC
